There are now more than 100 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Greater Manchester.

As of Thursday evening (March 19), 114 people have tested positive for COVID-19 across the region, according to Public Health England.

The true number of cases is believed to be much higher.

Greater Manchester's tally has risen by 20 compared to Wednesday's figures - the biggest daily increase so far.

Manchester has 21 confirmed cases - the most in the region. Wigan has the fewest confirmed cases - 4.

Sadly, at least six people in Greater Manchester have died having contracting COVID-19.

The Department of Health said that as of 1pm on Thursday, 144 patients across the UK had died after testing positive for the virus.

Some 3,229 people had tested positive for coronavirus across the country.

  • Stockport - 13
  • Trafford - 13
  • Rochdale - 9
  • Salford - 9
  • Bolton - 9
  • Bury - 8
  • Wigan - 4

Current government advice is that people who suffer mild symptoms of coronavirus, or live with someone who does, should stay at home and self-isolate. They will not be tested.

If you live on your own, you should self-isolate for seven days, but if you live with others, they should all self-isolate for 14 days.

People are also being urged to follow social distancing measures - such working from home where possible; avoiding mass gatherings; and avoiding pubs, clubs and theatres and all unnecessary travel.
