BREAKING: Teenager left with 'serious injuries' after hit and run in Lanarkshire street

A teenager has been rushed to hospital with “serious injuries” after a hit and run in Bothwell.

Now cops are asking for help to trace the driver responsible.

The incident happened around 2.50pm on Monday on Main Street in the town, near to the Clydesdale Bank.

That saw a 13-year-old boy was struck by a small silver vehicle - the driver did not stop.

Police say the child “sustained serious injuries” and was taken to Wishaw General for treatment.

Inspector George McCutcheon told Lanarkshire Live: “We are looking for the public’s help to trace the driver of the vehicle, who failed to stop after the collision.

“I would ask anyone with any dashcam and mobile phone footage of the incident, or anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision, to please get in touch with officers.

“I would also make a direct appeal to the driver of the car involved to do the right thing and come forward.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
