Team GB made history as they won the first ever Olympic gold medal in the the triathlon mixed relay at Tokyo 2020.
Alex Yee anchored the British team to a seventh gold medal of the Games after being put into a commanding position by Jess Learmonth, Jonny Brownlee and Georgia Taylor-Brown.
The United States took silver and France claimed bronze as the event was held for the first time in the Olympics.
Britain's triumph meant Brownlee finally won gold in his last ever Olympic race, while Yee and Taylor-Brown improved on their silver medals from the individual events in Tokyo earlier in the week.
Learmonth had got Team GB off to a sensational start as she led out of the swim on the first leg.
She narrowly lost her lead in the final metres of the run before handing over to Rio silver and London bronze individual medallist Brownlee, who got GB back in the driving seat with a superb transition off the bike.
Taylor-Brown and Yee maintained Britain's lead in the final half of the event under searing and sunny conditions, as competitors throughout the race collapsed on the blue carpet from exhaustion after completing their legs.
After GB's triumph, Brownlee told the BBC: ''The Olympics, I've completed it!
''It feels absolutely amazing. It's my third Olympics and I finally walk away with gold.
''We knew coming into this race there was a lot of pressure on us, we all had to race very well and do everything right and that's what we did.''
Taylor-Brown, who like Yee had won an impressive silver in her individual event, praised Brownlee for putting her in a dominant position.
She said: ''I just tried to not panic. Jonny gave me such a big lead. I just knew I had a bit of time to chill out and not stress too much about it, as that's when things can go very wrong.
''I knew I had to give everything that last run lap and give as big of a gap as I could for Yee boy!''
Yee said: ''I was pretty scared taking over. These guys had done the perfect race up to that point and we had the three best people doing each leg so I just wanted to do it justice. In my mind there was no way I was going to give less than try to get the win."
The 23-year-old had to hold off a challenge from Vincent Luis, who cancelled out GB's big advantage on the final bike leg before Yee powered away from him on the run.
'When Louis came past I knew I just had to get on there," Yee said. "I know my run's my strength so I just went for it.
''It's amazing to be here and do it with these great guys."
Learmonth who became an Olympic champion after finishing ninth in her individual event, said: ''I can't believe it.
"I was slightly nervous being in a team of Olympic medallists and I'm just so glad we executed a brilliant race. Olympic champions. It's mental.''
The race format featured teams of two men and two women, who each complete a short-course race of 300 metres swim, 6.8km bike and 2km run before tagging their team mate to take over.
