Sushant Singh Rajput dead: Bollywood star dies aged 34

Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput has been found dead at the age of 34.

Mumbai police spokesperson DCP Pranay Ashok, said they were investigating an alleged suicide.

Film and TV actor Rajput was best known for his role of former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.

He also starred in hit films Kedarnath and Chhichhore and made his final screen appearance in Netflix thriller Drive.

Tributes have been pouring in from the much-loved star, including from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called Rajput "a bright young actor gone too soon".

He shared: "Sushant Singh Rajput...a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti."

Large crowds of devastated fans have also gathered outside of Rajput's Mumbai home.

According to local reports, Rajput's death comes fives days after his former manager Disha Salian.

Salian, 38, died after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai on June 9.

Speaking about the tragedy earlier this week, Rajput shared to social media: "It's such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha's family and friends. May your soul rest in peace."

Following news of Rajput's death, Indian cricketer Kiran Moore has paid tribute after he trained the actor for his role in MS Dhoni; The Untold Story.

"Shock and disbelief are the two words I can remember?” Moore told PTI.

He also wrote on Twitter: "I don't know how I or anyone who knows him will be able to recover from this shock, gone too soon my friend."
