Strictly Come Dancing confirm Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin as 13th celebrity

Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin will be swapping the decks for the dancefloor as he becomes the thirteenth confirmed Strictly celeb.

The 34-year-old, who was a 2017 Celebrity Masterchef finalist, revealed that he would be taking part on Radio 1 today.

Speaking on the radio show today, he said that even his mum didn't know that he was taking part in the show.

He added: "One thing that people don't know is that I'm actually really good at dancing!"

Hackney-born Dev began his radio career in 2000 when he was just 16 for pirate station Freek FM, where he was known as DJ Devstar.

He later managed to land a job on childen's TV show Smile with childhood pal Reggie Yates, but later left in 2003 to concentrate on his radio career.

Dev joined BBC Radio 1Xtra in August 2002 and presented The Lowdown with Reg and Dev. He moved over to Radio 1 to replace Greg James on the weekend early breakfast show in 2009.

In 2014, he began presenting The Radio 1 Breakfast Show as he sat in for Nick Grimshaw.

He joins former Arsenal captain Alex Scott, who was confirmed for the Strictly line-up earlier today.

Alex said: “I am absolutely buzzing to be signed up to Strictly. It’s the show I’ve always wanted to do and I can’t believe I’m finally going to be part of it. I’m super excited, but also terrified at the same time…

"The football pitch is a bit less glam than the ballroom, but I’m ready to try the sequins and dresses! Bring it on!”

So far, eleven other stars have been confirmed for this year's line-up .

These includes Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, Paralympian Will Bayley, Drag Race star Michelle Visage, Viscountess Weymouth Emma Thynn, CBBC's Karim Zeroual, BBC presenter Mike Bushell, Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley, YouTuber Saffron Barker, comedian Chris Ramsey, EastEnders' Emma Barton and former England goalkeeper David James.
