Storm Hannah: Met Office say UK to be hit by fierce winds TOMORROW

The Met Office has warned that severe gales will hit parts of the UK on Friday night.

Storm Hannah is due to make land tomorrow morning, bringing strong winds and heavy rains to Ireland and southern parts of the UK.

The harsh weather will follow a fairly settled week in Ireland.

As of Thursday morning the Republic's capital Dublin had seen temperatures in the low teens Celsius and light patches of rain.

When Friday comes a weather front rising up from the Atlantic will bring with it rain and wind.

Wind warnings have also been issued for south Wales, and the south and south west of England.

Road, rail, air and ferry delays are expected as is short term power loss.

Earlier this week the weather agency warned of potential flooding, with as much as 40mm of rain to fall with a 24 hour period.

The gloomy forecast follows a record breaking Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

The UK experienced its hottest Easter Monday ever, after the Met Office confirmed a sizzling high of 25C.

All four home nations enjoyed their warmest Easter Mondays since records began in 1910 - with England highest at 25C in  Northolt, Heathrow and Wisley.

The arrival of Storm Hannah will beckon in a temperature plunge of 10C in less than a week, playing havoc with wardrobes across the country.
