BREAKING! St Mirren fans dealt blow as Vaclav Hladky and Stephen McGinn among those leaving club

Saints fans have been dealt a hammer blow after star goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky turned down a new deal at the club.

St Mirren have been doing all they could to tempt the Czech shot stopper to stay in Paisley.

But the play-off hero, who has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers, has been included in the club’s list of players set to leave the club, along with club captain and fan favourite Stephen McGinn.

Strikers Cody Cooke and Danny Mullen, attacking midfielder Oan Djorkaeff and defender Gary MacKenzie will also leave the Simple Digital Arena upon the completion of their current contracts. Tony Andreu and Ross Wallace will also leave the club.

Ryan Flynn, whose contract was set to expire this month, has agreed to extend his Buddies career, with Goodwin now focusing on who he can bring in to bolster his squad.

Several other clubs, including Motherwell, Hearts and Livingston, have all also released players this week and there will be several free agents which may tempt St Mirren into action.

They have already been credited with an interest in ex-Hamilton defender Alex Gogic.

Jim Goodwin told stmirren.com: “It has been really difficult to have to say goodbye to these players especially in the current circumstances.

"However, the opportunity to support the players through the close season is one the club felt was important.

"It goes without saying that everyone at the club wishes all of them the very best for the future."

Stephen McGinn, Danny Mullen, Gary MacKenzie, Ross Wallace, Tony Andreu and Cody Cooke will be retained under the furlough scheme before leaving the club.

This provision will also be extended to academy players Conor McBrearty, Scott Glover, David Wilson, Matthew Grant, Kyle Girvan and Dominic Lavelle.

Akin Famewo, Calum Waters, Lee Hodson, Alex Jakubiak and Seifedin Chabbi will all return to their parent clubs following the expiry of their loan deals.
