Breaking: Spurs appeal Son Heung-min's red card ahead of final day clash vs Everton

Spurs have appealed Son Heung-min's red card in Saturday's 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth.

The South Korean international was dismissed just prior to half-time following an altercation with Jefferson Lerma.

The Cherries midfielder appeared to strike Son on the back after he fouled Ryan Fraser, with the Spurs ace then retaliating and pushing the Colombian to the ground right in front of referee Craig Pawson.

Son's red card now means that he will be absent for Sunday's final league match against Everton and the first two league games of the 2019/20 season.

Spurs are hopeful that the decision will be overturned and they believe that the dismissal was excessive punishment.

The player will be available to face the Toffees on Sunday if the appeal to the sending off is successful.

Mauricio Pochettino's side do have limited options upfront at present and potentially having Son available will be a major boost going into the game as they aim to finish the season in third.
