Spain expects a UK air bridge decision within 'hours'.
A Spanish foreign ministry source has confirmed that the UK are in talks with Spain about an air bridge that would allow both countries not to quarantine travellers.
The source told Reuters that he expected a decision before Spain opens its borders to tourists from most European countries, including Britain, on Sunday.
The source said: "Spain is willing to be open to the United Kingdom, we are in talks with them about their quarantine.
"We are in a position to open without a quarantine."
The Daily Telegraph reported today that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce on June 29 that agreements have been reached for air bridges with a "small number" countries with low levels of the coronavirus outbreak.
Earlier in the week Spain's Foreign Minister Arancha González warned people from the UK could have to isolate for 14 days upon arrival in retaliation for the Brits own quarantine rule.
She said: "We will be checking what the UK will be doing and we will be in a dialogue with the UK to see whether or not we should be introducing reciprocity as they have different measures than the rest of the European Union."
She dubbed the situation "fluid" and said officials would "properly engage in a dialogue with the UK authorities to make sure that we both take the message that best corresponds to the health situation, which today is a little bit better in Spain than it is in the UK".
"Hopefully by the time we open our borders, the UK would have moved forward also," she added.
