Son of former Man Utd star Paul McGrath found after 24 hour search

The son of former Manchester United star Paul McGrath has been found after a 24 hour search.

McGrath had contacted police and taken to social media in a desperate plea to find his son, who disappeared earlier this week.

He claimed that the family were "very concerned" after claiming that his son, also named Paul, could be in a number of locations.

But McGrath has confirmed that his attempts to find the son has been successful.

He tweeted: Thanks to the power of social media & Metropolitan Police my son Paul has been located.

"The love and support shown to myself and my family has been phenomenal.

"From the bottom of our hearts we thank you."

Legendary Everton striker Kevin Campbell was among those who sent a delighted message to McGrath.

He wrote: Social media sometimes gets slated yet it can be truly wonderful too! Pleased all is well with your son @Paulmcgrath5 all the very best to you and your family Big Man."

McGrath's original tweet asking for help locating his son received over 35,000 retweets from football fans.

The desperate plea, which was posted alongside a picture of his son, said: "Please re-tweet. Looking for social media help please.

"Has anyone seen my son Paul in or around Hale, Manchester, London or any airports in the past few days?

"Police have been informed but we are very concerned and someone somewhere might have spotted him."

McGrath's followers got to work retweeting the post immediately in the hope that someone would have information to aid Paul's safe return.

Others sent their best wishes to McGrath.

"Let's hope he's found safe and sound really soon Paul. Fingers crossed for you," wrote one follower.

Another added: "Hope he turns up Paul safe. I'm sure he will."
