Son Heung-min signs new four-year contract with Tottenham

Son Heung-min has committed his future to Tottenham by signing a fresh four-year contract in N17.

Last signing a new deal in July 2018 that took him up until 2023, Spurs have been keen to tie the South Korean ace down to a longer deal for some time now given his fine form.

Former boss Jose Mourinho always maintained that the attacker would extend his stay at the club after making it clear last year that both parties wanted to come to a new agreement, with confirmation finally coming through on Friday.

Son's new contract takes him up until the summer of 2025 in N17.

“It was already a big honour to play here for six years, the club have showed me massive, massive respect and obviously I’m very happy to be here," said Son after putting pen-to-paper on a new contract.

“It’s like home, especially with the fans, the players, the staff. There was no decision. It was easy. I’m so happy to be here and will be so glad to see the fans again soon."

Speaking following the announcement, Fabio Paratici, managing director of football, said: “We are pleased to have agreed a new long-term contract with Heung-min Son as we move towards the start of a new season and a new chapter for the club with Nuno Espírito Santo.

“Everyone can see the real positive impact he has on the Club, both on and off-the-field, and we are delighted that he will play a part in what we are trying to achieve in the coming years.”

A key player for the club ever since his move from German side Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Son will mark a full decade with the Lilywhites in north London if he sees out his new deal.

Hitting 22 goals and 17 assists in 2020/21, the 29-year-old has scored 107 goals in total from his 280 Tottenham appearances.
