Slaven Bilic set to be named as new West Brom manager after interview

Slaven Bilic is ready to accept West Brom’s offer to become their new manager.

Mirror Football understands the former West Ham chief is now the Baggies’ No.1 choice to take over from Darren Moore, who was sacked in March.

The Championship club interviews the Croatian on Tuesday evening and were impressed with him.

Chris Hughton was among the favourites for the role at the Hawthorns, with Chris Wilder and Bruno Labbadia also on the short list.

Bilic spent two and a half years at the Hammers where he won 42 of his 111 games in charge and secured Europa League qualification in back-to-back campaigns.

The 50-year-old also spent three years playing in England - as he played 84 times for West Ham and Everton between 1996 and 1999.

Since leaving the east London outfit in November 2017, Bilic has only managed Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad, where he only managed five months before he was sacked in February.

Bilic has also managed Hajduk Split, Lokomotiv Moscow and Besiktas along with a successful stint at Croatia manager.

The Baggies had turned to Jimmy Shan as caretaker manager until the end of the campaign but he failed to secure promotion.

The Midlands outfit slipped up against rivals Aston Villa in the play-offs.
