A man has died and four others have been injured in a major fire.
Emergency services and gardai rushed to the scene of the blaze at an apartment block in on Main Street in Cavan town at around 9pm on Saturday evening, January 25.
One man died in the incident, while four others including a child and a fireman have been hospitalised.
Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
It's understood the fireman was being treated for smoke inhalation last night.
A Garda spokesman said yesterday: "Gardai and emergency services are at the scene of a fire at an apartment block on Main St, Cavan town, Saturday 25th January 2020 9pm.
"A number of people have been injured.
"More information to follow later tonight."
He later added: "One person (male adult) confirmed dead following the fire.
"Four others including a child and a fireman taken to hospital, injuries not believed to be serious."
