A cyclist has been rushed to hospital following a road traffic incident in Uddingston this evening.
Emergency services are currently at the scene and the road has been closed in both directions to traffic travelling along busy Bothwell Road at the junction of Bothwell Industrial Estate, near to the town's Marks and Spencer and Lidl supermarkets.
Motorists are being advised to stay clear of the area, with vehicles being diverted back along the B7071 Bothwell Road while emergency services investigate.
One eye witness told Lanarkshire Live: "I sat in traffic for ages on Bothwell Road coming from Uddingston and then noticed the cars were being asked to turn back. I could see the emergency services up ahead the closer I got.
"It looks serious. I hope all involved are ok."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said : "Officers are currently at a crash at Bothwell Park Industrial Estate involving a cyclist and a car. The cyclist has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment."
