The Queen's cousin and close friend Lady Elizabeth Shakerley has died, it has been announced.
Lady Shakerley, 79, was the daughter of Thomas Anson, Viscount Anson, and his wife, Anne Bowes-Lyon, who would later become Princess Anne of Denmark when she remarried.
She died in the early hours of Sunday morning with members of her family at her bedside.
Lady Elizabeth leaves behind one daughter and two grandchildren.
More widely known in her professional capacity as Lady Elizabeth Anson, she was a close friend of the Queen and responsible for arranging many of her private parties.
Lady Shakerley was born in Windsor Castle in 1941 to parents, Viscount Thomas Anson and his wife, Anne Bowes-Lyon,
Her mother later became Princess Anne of Denmark when she remarried following a divorce to Viscount Anson in 1948.
As the step-daughter of a Danish Prince, Lady Elizabeth moved in royal circles across Europe including the ruling families of Norway, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
Lady Shakerley founded the firm Party Planners in 1960 and went on to arrange events for a number of people in the royal houses as well as the Queen.
Notable events Lady Shakerley planned include Sting's wedding, Margaret Thatcher's 70th birthday party and the Queen's 80th birthday party.
She died in the early hours of Sunday morning with members of her family at her bedside.
