Premier League confirm decision on Brentford vs Arsenal fixture amid kick off change

Arsenal's Premier League clash against Brentford will go ahead this Sunday football.london understands. The game at the Brentford Community Stadium had originally been scheduled to be a 2pm kick off, but will now take place at 12pm. It will still be televised on Sky Sports.

Last week's round of Premier League fixtures were called off entirely as a mark of respect following the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday September 8th. The move had proved a controversial one after other sports such as cricket and both codes of rugby decided to continue playing.

With the Queen's funeral set to take place on Monday there had been some uncertainty as to whether the coming round of fixtures would be postponed as well. Now, though, Arsenal have moved to end speculation by confirming the decision.

"Our Premier League away fixture against Brentford on Sunday 18 September will go ahead at an earlier kick off time of 12pm," the club said in a statement.

"The earlier kick off has been agreed following discussions between the Premier League, the Metropolitan Police, Brentford and ourselves, after the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. All tickets purchased for this fixture remain valid."

The news means that Arsenal will play once more before the international break after last week's fixture with Everton was postponed and Thursday's Europa League match with PSV was also called off. It is not yet clear when either game will be rescheduled, although UEFA have told Arsenal that they would like the PSV game completed before the World Cup break in November, meaning that one the Gunners' fixtures against Manchester City or Brighton could be moved.
