Police shut off park after man stabbed then hit by car

A man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in a park then hit by a car in Bolton.

Police were called to the scene of the attack in Queens Park, off Chorley New Road, at around 8.40pm last night (Wednesday).

A man, aged 23, was attacked by two other men, police said.

He was stabbed during the attack before trying to flee the park.

The men chased him out of the park, where a car mounted the pavement and knocked him down.

The victim was taken to hospital from the scene but did not suffer any serious injuries, police said.

He has since been discharged.

No arrests have been and enquiries are ongoing.

Officers cordoned off a section of the park after the incident last night.

Several police vehicles were pictured stationed at the scene with an entrance to the park taped off.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called around 8.40pm yesterday (29 September) to a report of a male having been assaulted in Queen's Park, Bolton.

"Enquiries have since established a 23-year-old man had been assaulted and stabbed by two males in the park. The males then chased him out of the park.

No arrests have been made yet (ASP)

"Following this, a car mounted the pavement on Chorley New Road and hit the male.

"Thankfully he did not suffer serious injuries and has subsequently been released from hospital.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
