Breaking: Police release CCTV images of missing Cambuslang teen Kai Rae in London

Police in Rutherglen have released CCTV images of missing Cambuslang teenager Kai Rae.

Police are re-appealing for help in tracing the missing 16-year-old who was reported missing from Cambuslang on Monday, November 23.

Following extensive CCTV enquiries, officers have established that Kai travelled to Edinburgh Waverley Station on Monday, November 23, where he then took a train to London.

He was spotted leaving King’s Cross Station around 10.10pm on November 23 and got into a taxi at one of the station’s taxi ranks.

CCTV images show him wearing a black hoodie with ‘GAP’ outlined in white letters on the front, dark blue jeans and dark trainers.

He was also wearing a black mask, a back pack and carrying a dark blue GAP paper bag.

Inspector Stephen McManus said: “We have a number of resources dedicated to the search for Kai and are working with our colleagues at the British Transport Police and Metropolitan Police as part of our enquiries.

“Kai has been missing for over a week now. It is extremely unusual for him not to be in contact with his family and they are understandably extremely worried.

“We have released these CCTV images of Kai at King’s Cross Station to show what he was last seen wearing in the hope that someone may recognise him or know where he may have travelled on to. Perhaps someone spoke to him at either of the train stations or on the trains?

“If Kai sees this appeal, I would ask him to please contact family, friends or police to let us know that he is safe.”

The 16-year-old, who is a student at Anniesland College in Glasgow, was wearing a dark blue or black zipped hoodie and dark blue jogging bottoms when he disappeared.

He is believed to have packed extra clothing and cash before leaving his home.

Over 6000 people have joined a Facebook group set up by members of the community to co-ordinate efforts to find Kai.

Extensive searches have been carried out in the local area by kindhearted residents alongside his friends and family but no trace of him has yet been found.

His disappearance is described as ‘completely out of character’ and concern for his welfare continues to grow.

Kai is described as white, 5ft 6inches tall,  slim build with short brown hair.

Anyone who may have seen Kai or has any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1144 of 23 November.
