A police investigation is underway after an elderly woman died when a house collapsed.
The horrific incident happened in Shevington, Wigan, at around 2.50pm on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to reports that a house had collapsed a person may be trapped under the rubble.
Firefighters raced to the scene and removed rubble by hand to rescue a 77-year-old woman.

She was taken to hospital but sadly died from her injuries, police said.
Eyewitnesses said it was believed the gable end of the property fell away.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At about 2.50pm on Sunday 18 July 2021, officers were called to reports that a house had collapsed at Old Lane, Shevington, Wigan.
"NWAS, an air ambulance and GMFRS also attended and a 77-year-old woman was rescued and taken to hospital but, sadly, despite the efforts of the emergency services, she was pronounced dead.
"An investigation is under way."
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 2.24pm this afternoon GMFRS were called to a home on Old Lane, Shevington, Wigan, where it was reported that part of a house had collapsed into a neighbour’s driveway.
"A few minutes later we received a further call that a person was missing and could be trapped under the rubble.
"Upon arrival firefighters found one person trapped and unresponsive."
"Firefighters dragged rubble from the partially collapsed building by hand to recover the trapped person before assisting North West Ambulance Service to treat the patient and prepare them for transport to Wigan Royal Infirmary."
