Plymouth gunman's 6-min massacre outlined by police - with girl 3, killed

Police have revealed details of the Plymouth shooter's horrifying six-minute massacre which left five dead - including a three-year-old girl.

In a press conference on Friday, Devon & Cornwall Police chief constable Shaun Sawyer said Jake Davison, 22, first killed a woman, 51, who was known to him at an address which has not been disclosed.

He then went on a murderous rampage, killing four more people and injuring two others with a gun described by witnesses as a "pump action shotgun".

The other victims include a 43-year-old man related to the young girl, a woman aged 66 and a 59-year-old man.

Two other people - a 33-year-old man and 53-year-old woman - survived with "significant" injuries and continue to receive treatment in hospital following Britain's first mass shooting in 11 years.

Police were first called to the scene at just after 6pm on Thursday after multiple reports from members of the public of shots being fired.

Mr Sawyer said Davison entered Biddick Drive after gunning down the woman, "where he immediately shot then killed a very young girl, he also shot and killed the male relative of that girl".

"This was a truly shocking event and was witnessed by members of the public," he said.

"Further along Biddick Drive he aimed and shot at two local residents - a man and a woman - who received significant but we understand, at present, not life-threatening injuries."

He said they were being treated in hospital.

"From there, Mr Davison entered adjacent parkland where he immediately shot a man who died at the scene," Mr Sawyer said.

"Thereafter he moved to Henderson Place where he shot a woman." The woman died in hospital later.

He added: "Eye witnesses told us Mr Davison then turned the gun upon himself, taking his own life."

Davison posted bizarre rambling videos on YouTube (Youtube)

Onlookers told police that Davison was using a "pump action shotgun", Mr Sawyer said, although this has not been confirmed by authorities.

But Mr Sawyer did reveal that Davison was the holder of a firearms licence in 2020, and said a weapon had been recovered from the scene.

The chief constable also said that a motive is yet to be established - and that he could not yet confirm if the killer was known to police prior to the horror.

Mr Sawyer also refused to comment on whether Davison had any mental health issues, but said officers would examine his social media and hard drive.

It has since emerged that the apprentice crane operator, who claims to be from Arizona, in the US, uploaded a series of disturbing videos to YouTube.

In an 11-minute clip posted on July 28, he said: "I'm so beaten and defeated by f****** life. That drive that I once had had, that's gone now. It's literally gone - I don't have the power anymore."

Davison - whose videos had only collected a few hundred views each at the time of writing - also talked about being an 'incel' and referenced 'blackpill'.

Both are linked misogynist philosophies attributed to radical fringe groups, usually made up of young men, based around looks and the reasons why they can't attract women.

Lamenting his life, he added: "You wake up and you stare at the wall and you think 'nothing's changed'. I'm still in the same position, same period in life. Still a f****** this, that, virgin, f***** fat, ugly."

Labour MP for the city Luke Pollard said he was "utterly shocked and devastated" by the shooting in his constituency. "We don't expect this to happen here," he said.

"It is not Plymouth. The community is utterly devastated by what has happened and shocked to the core."

Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted: "My thoughts are with the friends and family of those who lost their lives and with all those affected by the tragic incident in Plymouth last night.

"I thank the emergency services for their response."

The incident was first mass shooting in the country for 11 years, after Derrick Bird, 52, a taxi driver, shot dead 12 people and injured 11 others before committing suicide in Copeland, Cumbria in 2010.
