Police cordon off woodlands as man found dead

A man has been found dead in woodlands in north Manchester.

Police rushed to the Blackley Forest at around 6.30am this morning (Thursday) following reports of concern for the welfare of a man. Officers found the body of a man in the woodlands.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

The man's next of kin has been informed. His age has not yet been disclosed.

Earlier this morning, pictures showed several emergency services vehicles stationed at the bottom of Ellbourne Road, which leads to the forest. A large cordon was also put in place around the area, preventing people from going into the woodlands.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Blackley Forest at around 6:30am today (24 November) to concerns over the welfare of a man. Sadly, officers found the body of a man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. His next of kin have been informed."
