Police cordon and evidence tent in place outside shop following reports of stabbing

A police cordon is in place this evening outside a convenience store and takeaway amid reports of a stabbing.

Officers remain in attendance outside the Go Local shop, on Great Stone Road, in Old Trafford.

Witnesses have said they saw a 'pool of blood' beside a small wall in front of the store.

It is understood that a man has been 'stabbed' - but this has not yet been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.

An evidence tent has also been erected within the cordon.

Forensics were also pictured at the scene at around 9.15 pm this evening, December 7.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted the police about the incident.

One person who works nearby told the M.E.N that the incident happened at 'around 7.30 pm' this evening.

They added that a 'young' man had been stabbed', with a large police presence remaining outside the store.

Crime Scene Investigators arrived shortly after 9pm (ASP)

Another person reported seeing 'at least four police cars' parked up on the corner of Great Stone Road shortly after 8pm.

Another witness from the scene said: "There is a forensic tent outside the shop, probably there to preserve the scene because of the weather.

"The cordon is the length of all three shops and blocks off the pavement.

Police are believed to have been on the scene since around 7.30 pm (ASP)

"There were three officers manning the scene. There was a pool of blood in front of a small wall outside the shop.

"It looks like somebody has been attacked and then sat on the wall afterwards."

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed by the police.
