Emergency services are responding to a 'medical emergency' at a Metrolink station in the city centre.
Tram services have come to a halt as a result of the incident in St Peter's Square.
A picture shared with the Manchester Evening News shows at least four police vehicles at the scene outside Wagamamas and officers on the platform.

A large police cordon has been put in place around tram tracks.
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more information.
Metrolink said in a tweet: "Due to a medical emergency at St. Peter's Square, there are a number of services changes in place: Eccles to Cornbrook Altrincham to Victoria Ashton to Piccadilly.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your journey."
It comes on a day when three lines were closed due to driver shortages, arising from the impact of the pandemic.
No services have been running on the Ashton, Eccles, or Airport lines since 5pm.
The closures prompted complaints from passengers on social media.
@AJMorgan1 tweeted: "It would be good if your drivers communicated with passengers.
"Tram went straight through to Exchange Sq with no explanation, not ideal when your trying to get to Oxford Road."
