Philippe Zdar dead: Cassius star dies, aged 52, after fall from Paris building

Philippe Zdar of influential French house duo Cassius as died, according to his agent.

The 52-year-old has reportedly accidentally fallen to his death from “a high floor of an old building in Paris.”

Zdar, whose real name is Philippe Cerboneschi, was one half of Cassius, along with Hubert Blanc-Francard (who is known in the group as Boom Bass).

They started life as La Funk Mob in the late 80s, recording and producing throughout the early 90s.

Zdar made the debut album for Cassius in 1999, giving it the same name as the year of its release.

They were great collaborators and their 2016 album Ibifornia featured the likes of Pharrell, Beastie Boys’ Mike D, Cat Power, and others.

Cassius were due to release a new album Dreems on Friday, June 21.

Zdar was also the owner of the esteemed Motorbass studio in Paris, where he worked with the likes of Rapture and Kanye West , on the Cassius-inspired song Why I Love You.
