Ozzy Osbourne makes 'painful' decision to 'bow out' of upcoming gig over health issues

Global singer Ozzy Osbourne has had to pull out of his upcoming gig at Power Trip festival this October.

The singer, 74, shared an emotional update to fans as he explained his reasons as he revealed his body is telling him that 'he's just not ready'.

In a post shared with his 5.6 million followers, he wrote: "As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October.

"My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.

The 74-year-old rocker had been battling health issues, which he explained as he said his body 'is telling me I'm just not ready yet' (FilmMagic)

"Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed."

He continued: "The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.

"Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support."

He finished the post: "I love you all and I will see you soon. God Bless, Ozzy".

Fans have flooded the comments to send their best wishes to the star, as one wrote: "No need to apologize sir, you’ve provided many years of entertainment. Take care of yourself."

Another added: "Health above all else, Ozz. Take all the time you need, we understand. And if retirement is in your plans, no one will complain. You've been putting your heart and soul into it for over 50 years."

"Take care of yourself Ozzy we’ll see you soon," said a third.

Another added: "Taking care of yourself is most important. We love you Ozzy."

Some fans commented as they explained the panic that they thought the announcement might have been more tragic news that the 74-year-old rocker had died. One fan commented: "I THOUGHT HE DIED BRO I WAS SHAKING."

Another echoed their thoughts as they wrote: "bruh i almost s*** my pants i thought he died or something."

"thought he died omfg i was abour to cry," wrote a third.

Earlier this year Ozzy announced his retirement following a string of health issues. He was forced to cancel his UK and Europe tour after saying that he is 'not physically capable' of performing any more.

The 74-year-old recently had extensive spinal surgery following a fall at his home in 2019, which had further aggravated injuries from a near-fatal quad bike crash in 2003.

In 2020, the rock legend also revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, which can cause slowed movements and difficulties with walking and talking.

Announcing his retirement in February, the singer said it was "probably one of the hardest things” he's ever had to do and expressed his despair at "disappointing" fans.
