Notts County staff have been paid outstanding wages as owners keep word

NottinghamshireLive has been told that staff at Notts County have been paid their outstanding wages for the months of June and July by the club's new owners.

Playing and non-playing staff at Meadow Lane had not received any wages from the club in over two months as former chairman Alan Hardy tried to seal a deal to sell the club to a Danish consortium.

In the mean time, the Supporters’ Association and Lifeline, the club’s fundraising organisation, were raising cash for those affected.

On Friday, the club's takeover deal was finally completed with Alexander and Christopher Reetz becoming the club's new owners.

The brothers made it clear to staff upon their arrival that paying them what they were owed by the club was top of their list of priorities .

And now their promise has been fulfilled with staff receiving their owed wages into their accounts this morning.

Notts captain Michael Doyle said: "The staff here go about their jobs everyday and at a football club it is players who get all the recognition, but it is those people who deserve all the credit now.

"The club is lucky to have them and we need to reward them now."
