Breaking: Nottingham Forest striker completes deadline day transfer

Nottingham Forest youngster Will Swan has completed a deadline day loan move to Port Vale.

The striker broke into the Reds first-team earlier this season, but will spend the rest of the campaign with the League Two side.

Ipswich Town had also previously been keen on the 20-year-old, but Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to recall Troy Parrott from Millwall and send him to Portman Road seems to have scuppered their interest.

GARIBALDI RED: The more important transfer window for Nottingham Forest is in the summer

Swan was handed his senior Forest debut by Chris Hughton in November, when he came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Swansea City.

He has been among the substitutes several times since then and got another runout against Reading last month.

That saw him rewarded with a new long-term contract at the City Ground, putting pen to paper on a deal which lasts until 2024.

But more recently, he had not been included in the matchday squad, and the arrival of front man Glenn Murray earlier today would likely push him down the pecking order further.

Boss Hughton has spoken about his wish for the player to get some game time.

Swan is unlikely to be the only departure from Forest before the window closes, with fellow forward Miguel Angel Guerrero having been told he is free to find a new club.
