Nottingham Forest have signed striker Glenn Murray on a short-term deal until the end of the season, from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Reds boss Chris Hughton has been keen to bolster his attacking options during the transfer window, and he has been reunited with a player he worked with on the south coast.
Murray has spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Watford but has been struggling for regular game time and is said to have been training alone in recent weeks.
He made six appearances for the Hornets, with all but two of those coming from off the bench.
Forest have found goals and chances hard to come by so far this term, with Lewis Grabban having netted twice and Lyle Taylor on five in all competitions.
Hughton has consistently stated his desire to bring in offensive reinforcements before the window closes at 11pm on Monday, with his side recording a blank as they drew 0-0 at home to Barnsley on Saturday.
The arrival of midfielder James Garner was announced a few hours after full-time against the Tykes, as the teenager joined on loan from Manchester United - although, like Murray, he had previously been on loan at Watford.
This month has also seen Anthony Knockaert extend his stay from Fulham and Filip Krovinovic brought in on loan from Benfica.
And the Reds manager has also stated how his focus during the window is on doing business which can help his team in the short-term as they battle to climb up the Championship table.
“By far the most important thing is now, because now protects whatever you want to do for the future and next season,” he said, prior to the clash with Barnsley.
“There is planning that goes into next season - because we’ve got players whose contracts are up - and potential players that can come in or loan players; you are continually doing that work.
“But by far, it’s about the importance of now; making sure we’ve got the squad we want now and can get the results we need to get now.”
