Breaking: Nottingham Forest forward completes permanent deadline day transfer

Striker Miguel Angel Guerrero has left Nottingham Forest and completed a deadline day move to Spanish side Rayo Vallecano.

The Spaniard only made the switch to the City Ground last summer, but has found regular game time hard to come by.

And the arrival of Filip Krovinovic and Glenn Murray would likely have pushed Guerrero further down the pecking order for the Reds.

He leaves on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, having made 11 appearances in the Garibaldi - although six of those came as a substitute - and without finding the back of the net.

The 30-year-old had joined Forest in September from fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned side Olympiacos, with his arrival coming while Sabri Lamouchi was still in charge.

He had put pen to paper on a one-year deal at the time, with the option of a further 12 months beyond that.

Guerrero follows young forward Will Swan in heading out the exit door before the window closes, with the 20-year-old having joined Port Vale on loan.

Nicholas Ioannou, Tendayi Darikwa and Zach Clough also left the club last month.

Boss Chris Hughton had spoken of the possibility Guerrero could move on in his pre-match press conference.

“We’ve made it known to Miguel and his representatives that if there are those opportunities (he could leave),” Hughton had said.

“We’re quite hopeful something will be done.”
