Breaking: Nottingham Forest confirm 15th summer transfer

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Remo Freuler.

The 30-year-old midfielder joins from Serie A side Atalanta, where he spent six-and-a-half seasons and made 260 appearances. He becomes Forest's 15th signing of the summer following the arrivals of Emmanuel Dennis and Cheikhou Kouyaté on Saturday evening.

Forest have announced Freuler's arrival off the back of a 1-0 home win against West Ham in the Premier League earlier today, the club's first top flight victory since 1999. The mood on Trentside is already jubilant and another signing has added to a successful weekend for the Reds.

A club statement said: "Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Remo Freuler from Italian Serie A side Atalanta.

"A Switzerland international, the 30-year-old has earned 46 caps for his country, having made his international debut in 2017 and has also appeared at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals and UEFA Euro 2020.

"Freuler brings with him a wealth of experience having made 202 appearances in Italy's top flight for Atalanta after arriving from Luzern in his home country in January, 2016.

"He also helped Atalanta to qualify for UEFA European competition through league placing for five consecutive seasons, including three in the UEFA Champions League where he made 21 appearances in total and reached the Quarter Final stage in 2019/20.

"Welcome to The City Ground, Remo!"
