Norwich win Championship title as Sheffield United finish in second

Norwich City supporters are celebrating after their side were crowned winners of the Championship following a 2-1 away win over Aston Villa.

The Canaries knew before the match a point would be enough to seal the title, and there never seemed any danger of them slipping into second place as title rivals Sheffield United could only draw 2-2 with Stoke City.

The Championship player of the season Teemu Pukki got the party started when he scored his 29th league goal of the campaign for Norwich after tapping in from an Onel Hernandez pass after eight minutes.

Villa equalised shortly afterwards through Jonathan Kodjia but that failed to dampen the party atmosphere, especially when Sam Vokes put Stoke ahead against Sheffield United on 20 minutes.

The Blades did get back into the title race after half-time as Everton loanee Kieran Dowell scored.

But Ryan Shawcross then put Stoke in front again and although Enda Stevens equalised to give United hope, Mario Vrancic sealed glory for Norwich with a late winner over Villa.

In the other playoff there is a midlands derby as West Brom play Aston Villa.
