North Korea warns US of 'undesired outcome' if no breakthrough on nuclear talks

North Korea has warned of an 'undesired' outcome if the United States fails to change position in nuclear talks, the country's state media reports.

North Korea’s vice foreign minister said the US will face undesired consequences if it fails to present a new position in denuclearisation talks, according to North Korean reports.

Choe Son Hui said North Korea’s resolve for denuclearisation remained unchanged but it will only happen if the United States changes its current calculations, KCNA news agency said.

Washington and Pyongyang remain at odds over North Korea's nuclear ambitions,

Leader Kim Jong-un has been in tense talks with world leaders over the territory's nuclear programme.

North Korea executed four of its officials from its foreign ministry by firing squad last week after his summit with President Donald Trump failed, reports claimed.

A Japanese press agency reported the rumours were spreading through the secretive country after it spoke to a trade official who recently visited North Korea.

Last week Kim arrived in a bullet-proof train to meet with President Vladimir Putin to discuss the problems in the Korean peninsula.

He shook the Russian leader's hand during the meeting in the Russian-Pacific city of Vladivostok.

The historic first meeting was widely seen as a power flex by Russia, as Putin reportedly told Kim he welcomes his efforts to normalise US-Korea relations.
