Nipsey Hussie memorial trampled as crowd flees noise 'they feared was gunshot'

A huge crowd fled a memorial to dead rapper Nipsey Hussie after they feared someone had opened fire, according to reports.

Dramatic footage on social media shows the mourners running away from the tribute in Los Angeles to the 33-year-old rapper, killed on Sunday.

ABC News reports that some in the crowd heard a loud noise they thought was a gunshot, and fled for safety.

There are reports of a number of people injured in the the crowd and at least three are stuck in the middle of the mass of people.

Other video clips posted on social media show the memorial was trampled by the fleeing well wisher, with  shoes scattered across the area.

At least one person was seen getting medical help, after lying on the floor, with witnesses saying there was "blood everywhere".

A coroner has revealed that Nipsey, real name Ermias Asghedom, was shot three times in the head and chest.

He was pronounced dead at hospital after a shooting outside the Marathon Clothing store he owns in south LA.

Two other people were shot outside the store but survived, the Los Angeles Police Department said, with Nipsey Hussle shooting: CCTV captures moment rapper is shot dead from an adjacent business.

The LAPD said there had been no arrests and no suspects have been identified though they were looking for a black male in connection with the shooting.
