Breaking news: Firefighters race to blaze at Perth block of flats

Four fire engines have raced to a block of flats in Letham this morning to tackle a blaze.

Residents were reportedly evacuated after a fire started at the building on Strathtay Road.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at around 9.52am.

A spokesperson for the fire service confirmed they sent four appliances, including an aerial appliance.

They said:“We were alerted at 9.52am on Wednesday, July 22 to reports of a fire at a block of flats at Strathtay Road, Perth.

“We mobilised appliances from Perth, Dunkeld and Dundee.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and a height vehicle to the scene where firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished a fire in a fuse box.

“Crews are currently still in attendance.”
