Netflix 'crashes' causing internet TV fans to go into meltdown

Online streaming service Netflix crashed sending droves of TV fans into meltdown.

According to website monitoring service Downdetector the website went out of service at 10.49pm this evening.

Less than five minutes later the website had received 394 problem reports.

It is not clear if the problem is being experienced by those across the world or just in the UK.

People looking to tuck into a TV show before tucking themselves into bed were sorely disappointed when the web page failed to load.

People flocked to Twitter to confirm that the streaming service was indeed down and to find others going through the same TV-less experience.

The issue was not only felt by those accessing the programme on their laptops.

The Netflix app was loading on phones but refused to play any programmes.

Shortly after 11pm the service appeared to be back up and running.
