BREAKING: Neil Lennon to LEAVE Celtic 'within 24 hours' as board finally oust under fire boss

Neil Lennon is reportedly set to leave Celtic within the next 24 hours.

Sunday night’s dismal Scottish Premiership defeat at Ross County appears to have been the last straw for the club’s board.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Celtic Park power brokers have been locked in crisis talks since the defeat in DIngwall and have reached the conclusion that Lennon’s second stint at the club has to end.

The 49-year-old has overseen a disastrous season in which Celtic meekly surrendered their league title to Rangers, when all the talk in build up had been about creating history and finally sealing ten-in-a-row.

But under Steven Gerrard, the relentless Gers have beaten their bitter rivals twice and have run away into the distance at the top of the league, leaving the Hoops wondering just how it went so wrong.

Fans have staged protests outside the stadium, left banners and demanded Lennon ’s removal on more than one occasion. And now it seems they’ll get their wish.

Some of the decision makers at the club wanted to give Lennon the remainder of the season before he most likely bowed out.

And number two John Kennedy is expected to be installed as interim boss.

The former defender has been on the coaching staff at Parkhead since he was forced into retirement due to a serious knee injury back in 2009.

First team coach Gavin Strachan - son of ex-gaffer Gordon - will assist Kennedy and the duo are likely to be in charge for the weekend meet with Aberdeen, while a third coach will be appointed from within.
