Morrisons workers are set to get an increased bonus this year, with the grocer paying its entire workforce triple the current rate.
The supermarket said a 'thank you' bonus will apply for the next 12 months, with shop floor staff benefiting the most.
It comes after Tesco, Sainsbury's and Aldi pledged to give all workers a 10% increase on all hours worked, while Asda said it will give all staff an extra week's pay in June.
All frontline colleagues will receive a 6% bonus on their earnings for the next year, rather than just the next 8-12 weeks, Morrisons said.
The changes represent a bonus payment of £1,050 for a full-time frontline colleague compared to the £351 that would have been paid last year.
Clare Grainger, group people director at Morrisons, said: "Our highly valued colleagues have stood tall amidst the coronavirus pandemic, playing their full part in feeding the nation. We want to thank every single one of them for their continued hard work during these unprecedented times by paying a much higher guaranteed bonus for the whole year in recognition of their effort."
The retailer said the cash, available to both temporary and permanent staff, will be paid quarterly so colleagues won't have to wait until next year to be paid. It will also apply to those who are off sick or in self-isolation.
Households are currently buying £1billion more food a week as many struggle during school closures and working from home.
Supermarkets and suppliers have had to double their output, while many have hired thousands more workers to keep shelves stocked and online deliveries running as panic-buying continues.
This week Lidl pledged to give all of its staff members a £150 gift card for their hard work during the pandemic.
Marks & Spencer will also give its workers a 15% pay reward.
In addition to today's announcement, Morrisons has hired 3,500 more workers to speed up home deliveries, while offering staff access to a "hardship fund" to help cover their bills as the pandemic continues to sweep through Britain.
Under the plans, colleagues will have access to an emergency fund that can be used to help cover payments during periods of sickness.
Colleagues will be able to apply for financial help if they experience a setback and are struggling to make ends meet.
Those who are sick with the Coronavirus will also receive sick pay whether or not they would normally be eligible.
