Marko Arnautovic hands in transfer request at West Ham amid China interest

Marko Arnautovic has handed in a transfer request at West Ham - just six months after trying to leave the club.

The Austrian is keen to leave the London Stadium this summer with an offer from China reportedly on the table.

Arnautovic, 30, made no secret of his desire to quit West Ham in January before a sensational U-turn saw him sign a new deal.

But his form dipped towards the end of the season as his relationship with the Hammers' faithful soured.

And Sky Sports report Arnautovic has now handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move away from the club this summer.

Chinese Super League sides Shanghai SIPG and Guangzhou Evergrande were both keen on Arnautovic in January.

West Ham rejected a £35m offer and Arnautovic decided to stay put before signing a new contract.

That deal keeps him at the club until 2023, but he now looks set to force a move away from the London Stadium.

Upon signing that contract, Arnautovic said: "I love this club and I will always love this club no matter what. You have decisions you have to make in life, but I say from now it doesn’t matter what happens I will.

“The fans gave me the power, they gave me the energy and that’s why I have to be here and that’s why I want to stay. I never wanted to run away because I hate this club, this was never my intention.

“I’m happy, I’m happy to come to this point. I’m happy that this club is improving. Step by step, every week, every month we are seeing some improvement and that’s good.”
