BREAKING: Man left with 'life-changing' injuries after motorbike crash in Dukinfield

A man has been left with 'life-changing' injuries after a motorbike crash in Dukinfield.

Police and paramedics were called to the smash on King Street at around 9.15pm last night.

A motorbike collided with a car, police said.

The pillion passenger of the bike, a 38-year-old man, was treated at the scene by paramedics.

He was then taken to hospital where he has life-changing leg injuries.

The rider of the bike, a 31-year-old man, turned up at hospital later with injuries to his leg and ankles.

The driver of the car, which the M.E.N understands to have been a Mercedes, remained at the scene to assist police.

The road was shut off between Boyd's Walk and Thorncliffe Avenue last night.

Pictures showed several police vehicles and ambulance vehicles at the scene.

One man, who lives near to where the crash happened, told the M.E.N how he saw the bike hit the car.

"The bike was dragging the guy on the back with it", he said.

"His leg was in a bad way. I think they needed to go to hospital."

Another neighbour, who was out at the time, said: "I don’t know what happened but I do know it was quite bad.

"The road was closed for over two hours and we couldn’t park the cars down here.

"At first they stopped us from walking down to preserve it but after a while they let us use the path as long as we stayed off the road."

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At about 9.15pm on Wednesday 21 July 2021, officers were called to King Street, Dukinfield, to reports a motorbike had crashed.

"It is believed the bike was in collision with a car and both the rider and pillion passenger were injured.

"The passenger, a 38-year-old male, was treated at the scene by paramedics and at hospital, where he has life-changing leg injuries.

"The bike rider, a 31-year-old male, later self-presented at hospital with leg and ankle injuries.

"The car driver assisted officers at the scene."

Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information to come forward.

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8473 quoting incident 2854 of 21/07/2021. Information can also be reported online or by using the Live Chat function at www.gmp.police.uk.
