A man believed to be in his 20s has reportedly been stabbed to death in Citywest, south Dublin.
Armed units and regular gardai rushed to the scene of the tragedy, which is understood to have occurred in the past hour, RTE News reports.
Early reports indicate that the victim was found outside, lying on the ground in the Brownsbarn Wood housing estate in the Kingswood area of Citywest.
A resident who lives in the quiet estate said: "When I was leaving for work at 7:30 this morning I saw four garda cars, one ambulance and one firebrigade and I thought somebody must have been killed."
The scene has been preserved, RTE reports, and the State pathologist has been informed.
Gardaí have begun a criminal investigation and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
