BREAKING: Man dies two weeks after 'serious assault' in Rutherglen

A 51-year-old man has died in hospital two weeks after a "serious assault" in Rutherglen town centre.

The incident on Farmeloan Road took place at 12.05am on Thursday, October 21.

The man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where medical staff described his condition at that time as "critical".

Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, November 4.

An 18-year-old man was charged in connection with the incident during a previous court appearance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 51-year-old man who was injured in Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen, around 12.05am on Thursday, 21 October, 2021, died in hospital on Thursday, 4 November, 2021.

"An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, 22 October, 2021."
