A man has died after falling from a bridge in Stockport.
Police were called to a report of concern for the welfare of a man on a bridge near Heaton Lane just before 7am this morning (Sunday).
Officers found a man who had fallen and despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A police cordon remains in place on Heaton Lane this morning.

The road is shut off between the A6 and King Street West roundabout.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 6.59am this morning (11 July) police were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man on the railway viaduct at Heaton Lane, Stockport.
"Officers attended and located the man who had fallen from the viaduct.

"He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene despite best efforts of emergency services.
"Heaton Lane remains closed between the A6 and the roundabout at the A560.
"Enquiries are on-going."
In a tweet, TfGM said: "Heaton Lane, Stockport.
"Road closed in both directions between A6 and King Street West roundabout.
"This is due to a police incident.
"Please use an alternative route."
