A man has died after being hit by a tram in Manchester city centre.
Emergency services were called to Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink stop at about 11.10pm last night.
A pedestrian, an adult male, was hit by a tram, police said.
He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is now being urged to come forward.
Sergeant Matthew Waggett, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a tragic incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened in the moments leading up to the collision, and to fully understand how this collision occurred.
"We would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have been on the Metrolink platforms at Deansgate-Castlefield in the moments leading up to the incident to please get in touch with police as soon as possible.

TfGM's Head of Metrolink, Danny Vaughan, said: “This is an extremely upsetting incident and my thoughts and deepest sympathies are with this person’s family and friends.
“This matter has been referred to the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) and is currently subject of a police investigation and it goes without saying that we will do whatever we can to support them."
