Man City confirm three new Covid-19 cases hours before Man Utd clash

Manchester City have confirmed three new cases of Covid-19 at the club - just hours ahead of their Carabao Cup with Manchester United.

Scott Carson, Cole Palmer and a member of staff have all contracted the virus.

A statement read: "Manchester City FC can confirm that Scott Carson, Cole Palmer and one member of staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

"Both personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.

"Everyone at the Club wishes Scott, Cole and all of our other colleagues a speedy recovery ahead of their return to work, training and competition."

Pep Guardiola's Man City have been hit hard by the coronavirus in recent weeks, with six individuals already recording positive tests before the three confirmed this Wednesday.

City's clash with Everton at Goodison Park was recently postponed due to the disruption Covid-19 has caused at the Etihad.

Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus returned positive tests ahead of the trip to Merseyside, before City's training facilities were closed for a deep clean.

Manchester City then beat Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League, before centre-back Eric Garcia tested positive for Covid-19.
