Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man died in hospital yesterday (Thursday, December 23).

The driver of vehicle involved, a silver Toyota Corolla, remained at the scene to assist police.

Greater Manchester Police says that no arrests have been made so far and it is continuing to investigate the tragic incident.

Anyone with information about the collision is being urged to come forward.

PC Karl Horner, from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Firstly, our thoughts go out to this man's family and loved ones at this difficult time.

"We are investigating to fully understand the circumstances around what happened.

"We're keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything, or have CCTV or DashCam footage of the area at the time."

Any witnesses or anyone with footage from the scene is asked to contact GMP online, using the LiveChat function on the force's website, or by calling 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 2722 of December 11, 2021.
