Man, 30, dies after being hit by car in Middleton on Christmas Eve

A man has died after being hit by a car in Middleton on Christmas Eve.

The 30 year-old pedestrian was involved in a collision with a grey BMW 320i M Sport on Rochdale Road just after 7.30pm on Thursday, December 24.

Emergency services raced to the scene he was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

However Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have this morning confirmed that he later died of his injuries.

His family are being supported by specialist officers.

A man in his thirties was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing GMP said.

And they are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have footage of the collision or its build-up to get in touch.

PC Neil Pennington, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was an incredibly tragic collision that has left a family utterly devastated on Christmas Eve and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is on-going and anyone with information, or anyone with dash cam footage, is asked to call 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 2297 of 24/12/2020."
