Lucky UK EuroMillions ticket holder comes forward to claim huge £54million jackpot

A Lottery player has come forward claiming to have the winning ticket to the huge £54million EuroMillions jackpot.

Camelot UK says a single ticket-holder has made a claim on the £54,957,242.50 fortune from the draw held on Friday June 10.

Once it has been validated, it will be up to the player should they want to go public with their incredible stroke of luck matching the numbers 17, 26, 36, 37 and 40 with Lucky Stars are 9 and 12.

If it is confirmed the win would be the third EuroMillions jackpot won in the UK in 2022.

An anonymous ticket-holder banked £109million on 4 February, followed by Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester in May who became the UK’s biggest ever winners when they scooped an astonishing £184million.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “It’s been an amazing year for National Lottery players and we’re delighted the huge £54M jackpot has been claimed.

"Our focus is now on supporting the ticket-holder through the process and helping them start to enjoy their truly life-changing win.

“There is another chance for a big UK winner tomorrow night (Tuesday 21 June) when there is an estimated £122M EuroMillions jackpot up for grabs.”

Happy couple Joe and Jess Thwaite from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, took home the dream prize of £184,262,899 in May this year.

The winning couple said they were "not sure anyone is really prepared for a win like this".

Jess said at the time the inspiration behind their win was her late father, who always played before he passed away.

She said: "My dad played the National Lottery all his life and constantly dreamed of winning.

"He'd always ask us what we'd do when we won, how we'd spend it, who we'd treat. It was a regular conversation and I feel like he was preparing us."

"The win gives us time to dream which we haven't had before.

"We’ve had one week to think about this and we now have time to share lots of experiences and go on adventures with our family and friends.”

The couple had bought their EuroMillions lucky dip ticket on the National Lottery App and received an email the next morning saying there was good news regarding their ticket.

Previous UK winners have turned their plans into a reality after scooping the top prize in previous draws, while others have fallen victim to the so-called curse of the biggest winners.

Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs in Ayrshire, Scotland, took home the 2011 jackpot worth £161,653,000.

In 2012, Adrian and Gillian Bayford hit the August jackpot bagging themselves £148,656,000.

The couple said they planned to splash out on luxury cars and holidays but sadly separated 15 months later.

The EuroMillions draw takes place every Tuesday and Friday.
