Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland websites and apps crash in huge IT glitch

Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers are all struggling to access their bank accounts today due to an IT outage affecting the banking group.

Website Down Detector, which monitors IT issues at big companies, said the issues started to be reported at around 10.10am.

More than 1,000 people had complained about Lloyds by 11am.

Around 65% had issues with online banking and 35% with the app.

Around 1,100 had reported issues with Halifax and 153 with Bank of Scotland.

All three are part of the wider Lloyds Banking Group.

Customers on Twitter reported being unable to access their accounts or transfer money.

A Lloyds Banking Group spokesperson said: "We know some of our customers are having intermittent issues logging on to their banking through our app and online. We're sorry about this and we're working to have it back to normal soon."

Lloyds told the Mirror the issue had been fixed by 3.10pm.

Two weeks ago Lloyds Banking Group said it had paid out £13.6million to around 350,000 customers after a regulatory probe into how it renewed home insurance policies.

Lloyds, plus Halifax and Bank of Scotland, told 2.7million customers between 2009 and 2017 that their renewal price was competitive.

But the banks did not check this was right, according to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) watchdog.

The FCA said this meant "serious consumer harm", as most customers were charged more when renewing.

Over the same period the banks sent letters to around 500,000 home insurance customers saying they would get a renewal discount.
