Breaking: LeBron James inks two-year, $97 million extension with Los Angeles

LeBron James has agreed to a two-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to multiple reports. This will keep the four-time MVP in LA through the 2024-25 season.

Though the Lakers won the 2020 NBA title, with James earning the finals MVP award in the process, King James’ tenure in purple and gold has, at times, been rocky. News of this extension should, for the moment, put to bed a disappointing 2021-22 campaign.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported this deal will make James the highest earning player in NBA history. By the end of this extension, LBJ will have made $532 million in career player salary. Woj reported the new contract contains a 15% trade kicker.
