BREAKING: Lanarkshire mail depot locked down by police due to suspicious package

A mail depot in Lanarkshire has been locked down by police after a suspicious package was discovered earlier this morning.

Emergency services raced to the Parcelforce building in Cambuslang around 6.15 am, after concerns were raised regarding a package there.

However police have reassured worried locals that there is not thought to be any danger to the wider public from the item.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue service are also at the scene, on Cambuslang Road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.15am on Wednesday, 9 June, officers were called to the Cambuslang Road area of Glasgow, following concern for a reported suspicious package.

"There is not believed to be any risk to the wider public.

Emergency services remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”
